The other day while searching the web I came across a YouTube video of New Yorkers airing their views on what it takes to be in a long term serious relationship. I thought I'd share it here. It is one thing to casually date for fun, which may be purely at a physical level, but it is much more deeper and meaningful to be with someone who is your life-partner and shares a similar long-term outlook on wanting to be in a serious relationship.

I am of the opinion, that in most situations people want a long term serious relationship when they are going out on a date. Yes it is for fun and having a good time, but it is also subconsciously an attempt to be on the hunt for a life partner and a soul mate. The final stage is usually a serious relationship sometimes leading to marriage.

Online Dating Industry Trend

Online Dating has really made the process more efficient in getting to a select group of individuals based on visual/looks (photo is must on your profile) and your stats. That is why online dating is doing well as an industry because it does work, although far from perfect.

One of the recent trends in the online dating industry has been the double digit increase in the growth rate of the casual dating market. Serious relationship dating is an exact opposite of that. While dating sites that promote "Friends with Benefits", "No Strings attached (NSA)" or "extra-marital affairs" are on the extreme end of it, speed dating, hook-ups, fling finder type sites have increasingly raised the bar for those who are looking for a serious relationship.  read more »
